A downtown food crawl you can do on foot
Downtown Raleigh rewards people who park once and walk. Start where most first-timers do, inside the old warehouse that now holds a dozen kitchens under one roof — Amitie Macaron sits just inside the Morgan Street doors, and it is the easiest possible way to start a day of eating badly on purpose.
Stay in the same building and work toward the back, where Cousins Maine Lobster has been quietly converting sceptics for years. This is exactly the moment a visitor gets disoriented: two places, same address, no sense of what else is within a five minute walk.
From there it is a short northward walk to MoJoe’s Burger Joint on Glenwood, which is the point in the crawl where you either commit or go home. If the food truck gods are smiling, Mama Nem’s Creole Soul will be parked somewhere between the two.
Finish north of downtown at Jerry’s Grill on Whitaker Mill, far enough out that the walk earns it.
